After the super success of TEDx Chennai on 10.10.10, now it is TEDx VIT’s turn
TEDx VIT is happening on 14 Nov 2010, at Anna Auditorium – VIT University
and here is the first set of speakers
We, the TEDx Chennai organisers’ were so attached to the event that we created a big scene while shifting the TEDx prop to VIT. In the picture Kiruba Shankar, the licensee for TEDx Chennai and Sandeep Varma, one of the TEDx Chennai organisers, trying hard to control their tears.
Any way looking forward to an engaging and empowering TEDx VIT

TEDx Chennai 2010:Felix the Photographer
If you want someone (and that someone is too good at taking pictures, mind you) to take great pictures of yours (it is free also my dear friends), the best place in Chennai is “The War Room” at Royapettah, where the TEDx Chennai organisers meet up. For some this is a great incentive to attend the meet ups. There is this guy named Felix Chandran, always ready to take pictures of yours.
Felix is the De facto photographer of the TEDx Chennai, has been very active in various organisers’ meet, taking hundreds of pics and saving them all for posterity. Felix was also part of the 2009 edition. And this year, 2010 he is in charge of the videography also.
So now Felix has designed the organiser visiting card. Here is the first set of TEDX Chennai organiser visiting cards
I am eagerly waiting for my visiting cards

TED Active learnings for TEDX Chennai
This TEDX Chennai organisers’ meets I tell you, are always filled with ‘TED moment(s)’. Truck load of informations are shared, some times experiences too
So on 21 Feb 2010,Kiruba Shankar, who attended TED Active 2010,Palm Springs, California had some wonderful insights and experiences to share.Information that will surely help in making a great TEDX Chennai experience. Here are few to share
1.How one can get the best speakers through crowd sourcing- learning from TEDX Amsterdam
2. Not to treat TEDX Chennai as an event, but as the culmination of month/year long selection of great people and inturn great ideas
3. How vital the various pre TEDX events are, like TEDX conversations with TEDX Stars
4. The power of wish lists
5. To plan well in advance as if TEDX Chennai is happening in June and not in Oct and
6. (Not really applicable to TEDX Chennai)How to find a hotel with great difficulty in Palm springs, near to the TED Active venue, feel blessed, rush to the hotel then realise that its a Gay hotel!and experience the real TED moment(read TED shocker)
But our TED moment came when Kiruba showered all of us with
Ted2010 limited edition Artist tote
TEDX Chennai badges
Now its time to DO, to create a great TEDX Chennai moment!

TEDx Chennai 2010: The Kick start!
“TEDxChennai is 280 days away. But if you had come to the organizers meet today, you’d have thought its happening next week!”
Kiruba on Twitter
Kiruba’s tweet says it all, Jan 3 meetup gave a concrete idea about how to go ahead..jpg)
First things first, even though the World is coming out from the recession we don’t want to take chances. We made a very comprehensive list on prospective sponsors. Making the list is always easy and took hardly 10 mins now the real challenge is to rop them in. After the roaring success of first edition of TEDx Chennai, getting sponsorship would be relatively easy.
Kiruba’s stunt. The LCD TV that you see in the picture is actually a reflection. Kiruba trying to pass through with out getting hurt had there been a physical TV. Probably Pranav Mistry’s Sixth sense effect?
We believe that the Journey is as important as destination. We have been meeting at Cafe Coffee Day, enough of closed spaces we thought. Now each and every oraganisers’ meetup is going to be as eventful as the TEDx itself. Next meetup we are planning to have in company with some crocodiles and Alligators, anyone interested to volunteer?
Another major discussion was on the venue. IIT Chennai was great but we are looking at other options as the only thing that is permanent is the change
There is a series of events planned ahead of TEDx Chennai 2010 and the first one is the TEDconversations happening on Jan 16.
