Onam is here and being a malayali, this is my grandest of all festivals. And Onam is really a big festival back in Kerala but then when you are a NRK (Non Resident Keralite or marunadan malayali) you tend to lose the real fun and flavour of Onam festival.
Neverthless we try our level best to recreate Onam. That includes creating the pookalam, preparing and having Onam sadhya, the grand feast.
When it comes to grand feast, I am certain that Malayalis in Chennai and Bangalore will not be missing much. As always during Onam season Ente Keralam restaurant has come up with grand Onam Ela Sadhya. The grand feast will be from Aug 20th to Sep 2nd.
Ela Sadya is a pure vegetarian meal that consists of traditional delicacies served on a banana leaf. The sadya is being overseen by Unnikrishnan Namboodiri and chefs are flown-in from Kerala for this occasion. The Onam Sadya will include a special assortment of 24 items that include two payasams, two pradhaman, four kinds of fried chips, four unique pickles, kaalan, olan, thoran, errusery,avial, sambhar,rasam and more.
