How people create mail IDs

Recently I had to go through some hundreds of emails and during the process I realised the ways, sometimes silly, in which people name their mail-ids,

Here are the various types of mail-ids

completename@email.com

lastnamefirstname@email.com

firstname@email.com

lastname@email.com

initials@email.com

firstnameandinitials@email.com

lastnameandinitials@email.com

Nickname@email.com

firstnamedateofbirth@email.com

firstnameplacename@email.com

firstnamecompanyname@email.com

firstname_somenumber@email.com

I am sure, I have missed couple of other innovative names for sure :)

Tips on How To Blog Daily

I have been blogging daily since November 2012. I know its bit tough but then realised its not impossible. The biggest concern for bloggers is to get content. During this process I figured out some tips by which daily blogging can be achieved. So here are those tips,

1. Have an editorial calendar: This helps in organising, no need to strictly follow the calendar but then you will have the fear of not  deviating from the schedule :)

2. Events: Attend as many events as possible, you will get enough content to blog. I live tweet events and later compile them and make it as a blog.

3. Networking: Believe me, meeting people helps in blogging. You get  lots of interesting stories from them

4. Reading: Reading books helps me in getting the content, pls check daily dosage :)

5. Facebook: Any social networking sites, especially Facebook are large reservoirs for content, be active on them, get the thread and blog

So now I decided to continue, Blogging daily is such a great fun you know :)

Diwali 2012

Compared to previous years, I see less crackers being burst at this Diwali. Is it because of the increased prices for the crackers? or is it because people are becoming more concerned about the pollution and nature? What ever be the case, happy Diwali to you all :)

What’s your Surya Namaskar count?

How many Surya Namaskars you can perform at a stretch? 5, 10 or 50? What about 108? The Yogathon Challenge organized by The Art of Living is about performing 108 Surya Namaskars. The wonderful Hobby of Collecting

I have been collecting various strange things from my school days.  My first hobby that I can remember of  was collecting the tiny posters of cricketers with their statistics that used to come along with the bubble gum.  I don’t remember the brand. Then I started collecting match box labels, known as phillumeny. Then a scrap book of photos of cricketers and tennis stars.

Then in high school, as with the case with all kids, I graduated to Stamp and coin collection. Bargaining and exchanging stamps were good fun. I still has my collection with me. Some of the nations seize to exist, like USSR and Czechoslovakia. I was and still remains a  timbromaniac, an avid stamp collector.

As years passed I started collecting  some strange things. Latest being collecting the bookmarks from Flipkart.

Here are my other collections,

Biographies / Auto-Biographies

Special edition magazines

And my crazy hobby of collecting wonderful items is continuing!!!!!

What’s Your Book Per Month?

So what’s your BPM i.e Book Per Month? BPM is nothing but the number of book(s) you read in a month. Some time in 2006 I started this strange but very effective habit of writing down the books that I read and also interesting anecdotes, sentences from the various books. I have named this as Power Pages!

Now I have recorded the names of books that I have read since 2006

Lets come back to BPM now, so here is the detailed names and numbers of the books that I have read in the last 6 years!

And i’ts not at all encouraging!!!! I have so far read 63 books in 6 years. not even a book a month or to be precise .80 book. To put it another way, lets assume that average page of the book is 250. Then I read 218 pages in a month, 7 pages in a day. Things are not so interesting for sure :(

So what’s your BPM???

Birth Your Book By Dr. Liz Alexander

The other day I completed 5 years as a blogger and believe me it was real fun, whether it was live blogging events or being a travel blogger. Now one thing I always wanted to do was to write a book, especially after Kiruba shankar’s book launch.

For all the aspiring authors, blogging is a platform to share their ideas and get feedback, same case with me also. But to author a book is not as easy as being a blogger.

So I was going through some tips on how to write a book and finally stumbled upon a book named “ Birth your Book” by Dr. Liz Alexander. Dr. Liz  is ‘The Book Doula’ and  connect people who have great ideas and wanted to share their ideas with readers by authoring books. Now Birth Your Book is an interesting read, the one I was looking for and for all who always wanted to write a book but some how could not.

This book gives you practical tips on how to overcome Emotional, Mental and various Behavioral obstacles that keep one from Writing. I never knew that these many obstacles existed!

Birth your Book also details on various strategies on,

How to look beyond the first idea that comes to you for your book and find a potentially more innovative and compelling concept, act quickly on the idea, various characteristics one should develop to become a successful writer and above all how to enjoy writing and make it a profession.

Now if you want to write a book, Birth your Book is the book I would suggest.

The Kindle version of Birth Your Book is available on Amazon

Also available on Smashwords. Now here is the best part, if you link via facebook, there is a  coupon code CH59E that gives you 30% discount ($2)  until end July! So isn’t it a wonderful way to get that book out of your head and into people’s lives?
